Last Minute Gifts for the Food Lover

Cover of Cover of Joy of CookingI was shocked to realize that Christmas is now less than 10 days away. This holiday has surely flown up on us, hasn’t it?

If you are as entrenched in last minute shopping as I am, you may be looking for some great last minute gifts for the food fanatic in your life.

Here’s a few ideas:

  • A cookbook - You can never go wrong with a classic like The Joy of Cooking. If that’s already on their shelf, consider the revered food writing of MFK Fisher or a tome by Julia Child. For more modern chefs, Guy Fieri, Ina Garten and other stars have recently released new cookbooks.
  • A good knife - Everyone who cooks should have at least one really nice knife to make chopping, slicing and more a cinch. I happen to love my Global knives, but there are many fantastic brands available.
  • The gift of an experience - You needn’t head to Europe for a food experience extraordinaire or head into the city. Whether it’s a gift certificate to a local restaurant or an experience from Giftybox or Vivabox, you can give the food lover in your life something to salivate over, no flight to Paris required.
  • Ingredients - You can create a thoughtful and delicious gift by gathering up a few themed ingredients in a basket. For instance, for the cheese lover, you could choose several tasty cheeses, some delightful crackers and perhaps even a good bottle of wine. Then channel your inner Martha and assemble the gift basket.
