Even Tom Colicchio Has a Picky Eater at Home

Posted by Patsy Kreitman on Edible TV

Most people would think that having a chef at home would mean amazing meals, and no need to worry about picky eaters.  Apparently, that’s not the case at home with Tom Colicchio.

According to an interview with the NY Times, his son has a sweet tooth and enjoys fast food with his friends.  Having a chef for a father has introduced him to a greater variety of foods and has allowed him to develop a taste for foods that many other children never taste, such as caviar.  Every night is not necessarily a gourmet meal, but they do eat fresh and seasonal ingredients that he is able to throw together in a short period of time.

Perhaps there’s hope for the rest of us who may struggle to get our children to try new foods and acquire tastes that are beyond pre-packaged foods.  Maybe watching Top Chef with them will encourage them to try a few new foods that before they would have passed up… hey, it’s worth a try!

My dad is a chef, and I definitely try, eat, and enjoy a lot of foods that my friends don’t. I’m glad to have a well-rounded food upbringing!
