On The BodyBugg: Update 5
Posted by Sarah Caron on Fit Fare
Have you been following my adventure with the BodyBugg (Update 1, Update 2, Update 3, Update 4)? So far, I have dropped a few pounds and learned a lot about my habits.
My husband hung up a full length mirror for me yesterday. I used to have one, but it was damaged when we were doing some improvements to my bathroom a year or two ago. Since then I haven’t had one.
My, how a full length mirror can kick your butt into gear.
I knew from my scale that I wasn’t going to be too pleased when I gazed upon my reflection. But I had no idea that my spare tire was … full sized. Yes, sir, this is no donut tire hanging around my midsection. In fact, I think it might be an apt replacement for an SUV’s tires.
I’ve tried the BodyBugg in several ways over the past few weeks: not cutting back on food and not exercising to see where I naturally fall. Fitting basic exercise into the day through playing with the kids or jogging in place or using the Wii, without cutting back on food. Not logging food religiously to see if I can still eat within my range (the answer is no). But when I saw my reflection in the mirror, I knew I had only one option: get moving and eat less. I cannot look like this. It depresses me. Not in a clinic way that requires medication, but in a deep sadness way … a way where I am left wondering why I am letting myself look like this.
With Thanksgiving just two days away, it’s daunting to think that I might be able to shed pounds this week. But how can I not? When you feel your sense of self missing, you can’t help but do something about it.
Now, onto the losses.
