Holiday Gift List: Simple Gadget to Create Beautiful Pies

Posted by Patsy Kreitman on The Cook’s Kitchen

Are you pie crust challenged?  Do you know someone who makes great pies, but would love a cool gadget to make them even more stunning to look at?  Or perhaps you know someone who loves to bake and might enjoy something else to play with next time the mood strikes to make a pie.  Then this gift idea will be perfect for anyone who bakes or makes pies.

Recently, I received a set of Fall Leaves Pie Crust Cutters that enabled me to make the prettiest pie crust I’ve ever made.  They are so simple to use.  Once you have the pie crust rolled out and placed in the pie dish, gather the scraps and roll them out.  Choose which leave you would like to use and press down on the outer edges of it, then you press down on the knob that stamps the dough.  Pick up the stamp and pop out the leaf.  Use an egg wash to adhere the leaves to the edges of your pie crust and you don’t have to attempt to crimp the crust ever again.

MINI METAL COOKIE CUTTERS 6/PKG-HARVEST would also work to create a pretty crust.  The only additional step would be to use a knife to add the details since they do not have the stamp built into them.

The adorable pie crust cutters may still be available at your local Williams-Sonoma (they are no longer available on-line) or other mini leaf cookie cutters at Amazon.
