On the BodyBugg: Update 3

BodyBugg by Sarah Caron Have you been following my adventure with the BodyBugg (Update 1, Update 2)? So far, I have dropped a few pounds and learned a lot about my habits.

Turns out that I consume more calories then I care to think about. And when I am working, I burn very few. The more stressed out I get, the less I burn. If that’s not a vicious cycle, I don’t know what is.

Last week, I had a large and unexpected loss. My trainer warned me that I might not see a loss this week after that — and I didn’t. But that certainly didn’t make it easier. I actually gained a little more than a half pound. But looking back at my activity and eating, that isn’t a surprise. I started out the week strongly, but tradition and family events made it challenging. And although I skipped seconds at a dinner and made smart choices at a restaurant, I dropped the ball in other, unexpected places.

Now, two things could happen. I could take this slight gain to heart and let it discourage me, leading to less attention paid to what I am doing right — including being honest about what I eat. Or I could see if I could lose that weight and more by way upping my exercise and paying close attention to what I eat. I dare you to guess which I am going for …

Despite the gain, knowing how what I ate matched with what I did — thanks to the BodyBugg’s measurements — I am actually encouraged by this whole thing. I know why I gained a little. There is no mystery or secret to this. I can see where I went wrong, and that opens me up to being able to correct it. And that, dear readers, is a good thing.

So, I think this is a call to work out more. What do you think?

This week? I am checking out a special watch that works with the BodyBugg. Check in next Friday for details.
