How Up on Food Allergies Are You?

Posted by Chris Arpante on Kids Cuisine

I am not often home during the day, so I don’t usually catch the morning news shows. Then, with the pleasure of having nothing to do one morning last week, I caught Good Morning America. They featured the story of Robin O’Brien, a mom who became aware of her child’s food allergy only after the toddler experienced a severe, life-threatening reaction. Turning lemons into lemonade, she turned the unfortunate incident into a positive by starting the website Allergy Kids. The website’s “goal is to make it easier to identify a child with life threatening food allergies through our universal symbol for food allergies and to provide comprehensive independent research so that you can make the best choices for your family”.

Allergy Kids is a really useful and informative website for any and everyone. For those who have kids, are around kids, etc., think about all the changes schools, daycares, and camps are making, instituting new rules prohibiting foods like nuts and tuna. Taking a moment to stop by Allergy Kids might save a lot of undue stress and possible sadness.

Whether or not you have the time to sit and click throughout the site, be sure to check out Our Intimate Relationship with Food - and 10 Things You Can Do to Protect Your Family. It’s sure to help. And, check the blog, as well.
