Food Network Has a Busy December

Food NetworkSome of you motivated folks out there have already started thinking about your Christmas plans. The Food Network knows you’re out there and maybe wants to inspire the rest of us to get with the program. It has a huge list of holiday programming that will hit the air this month. Check out the shows, along with their official descriptions, below.  If you miss the first airing of it, don’t panic … it will likely be run again during the month.

ALL STAR HOLIDAY DISHES, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 9PM

‘Tis the season to share the holiday spirit with some of the Food Network’s biggest stars! Get ready for some fun when six Food Network stars pair up to cook and share their favorite holiday dishes. Paula Deen welcomes Robert Irvine into her Savannah home, Tyler Florence and Guy Fieri gather in Sonoma, and Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis get-together in New York for some happy holiday cooking and cheer. It’s a warm and festive happening sure to inspire everyone’s holiday menu.

RACHAEL RAY’S HOLIDAY FEAST, Premieres: Wednesday, December 5th at 9PM

Rachael Ray prepares a can’t-miss menu for a cozy and elegant holiday supper. Olive and Garlic Soft Cheese Spread, Orange Balsamic Cornish Hens, Pepin Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Braised Carrots and Fennel, Pumpkin Pie with Almond-Spice Whipped Cream.

EMERIL LIVE: EMERIL’S HOLIDAY CONTEST, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 8PM

Emeril put out the challenge for America’s best Holiday ideas and the recipes came pouring in! From NY to Nevada, the winners put together one amazing menu - Coquito; Crab Stuffed Twice Baked Potatoes; Crab & Shiitake-stuffed Filet Mignon with Diver Scallops wrapped in Peruvian Purple Potato Nets & Béarnaise Sauce; and Mom’s Green Tomato-Apple Pie. Now that’s one kicked up holiday!

DINNER: IMPOSSIBLE: MISSION HOLIDAY HOPE, Premieres: Sunday, December 2nd at 10PM

In this one hour special of Dinner: Impossible, Robert Irvine will have less than seven hours to cook dinner for 1000 residents and volunteers of Biloxi - but there’s more to this mission than just cooking food. This dinner is also a ‘welcome home’ for one Biloxi resident who has been waiting to see her home for two years! Robert will escort Ms. Brenda to receive the keys to her brand new furnished home!

SECRET LIFE OF… GINGERBREAD, Premieres: Monday, December 3rd at 8:30PM

Host George Duran uncovers a modern-day gingerbread man recipe in Washington, D.C., learns the secrets to building a stellar gingerbread house and reveals the many ways one of our favorite holiday flavors is used from cocktails and soups to toothpaste.

PAULA’S PARTY: HOLIDAY PARTY, Premieres: Saturday, December 8th at 10PM

The whole audience is dressed to impress for a Holiday celebration to remember. Food Network’s Robert Irvine joins Paula for a special “Christmas: Impossible” brunch challenge that finishes with some tasty results. Grammy Award Winning Music Star, Amy Grant, creates a fabulous Christmas Ham and tops it off with a classic Christmas tune with her own Paula Deen inspired lyrics. And what would the holiday be without family? Jamie Deen helps his mama mix up an Eggnog Custard Pie to really get viewers in the holiday mood. He then surprises Paula with a Christmas Spectacular of her own…the Radio City Rockettes! And just for kicks, one of the Rockettes brings an old family recipe to share with Paula, fruit Roll Ups.

THROWDOWN with BOBBY FLAY: GINGERBREAD, Premieres: Sunday, December 9th at 10PM

Johanna Rosson from Macomb, Illinois has a unique talent as a nationally recognized Gingerbread Artist. She can recreate just about any building and every detail – all in edible, homemade Gingerbread, decorated with sweet icing and colorful candies. Johanna thinks the Food Network has tapped her to star in one of its Holiday Specials, and is ready to show a crowd in Springfield the tricks of her delicious trade. But just as the Gingerbread cools and she’s ready to create her masterpiece, Bobby Flay surprises her with a Gingerbread House Throwdown! One might think Bobby’s out of his league on this one, but wait to see what he’s making. In the end, it’s up to the judges to decide who has got the best looking, best tasting Gingerbread house in town.

ACE OF CAKES: CHARM CITY CHRISTMAS, Premieres: Thursday, December 13th at 10PM

Duff, Mary Alice, and Geof travel to NYC to meet with executives from Radio City Music Hall to discuss the cake design Duff will be presenting at the opening night gala party in honor of the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular 75th Anniversary. This puts Duff and gang in the Christmas spirit prompting them to decorate the bakery, pick secret Santas, share Christmas/Hanukkah stories and get their company Christmas photo taken. They decide to take it a step further and donate a cake and gifts to their local Ronald McDonald house.

30 MINUTE MEALS: HOLIDAY CHEER, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 11:30AM

Rachael spreads some holiday cheer with this cozy and impressive meal: Roast Broccolini and Beans, Herb-Apricot Chicken, Butternut Squash Risotto, and Nutella Tarte.

BAREFOOT CONTESSA: HOLIDAY 2007, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 12:30PM

It’s festive fun with the Barefoot Contessa who is throwing a dazzling holiday dinner party for friends with a luxurious Seafood Gratin of Lobster, Halibut and plum, pink Shrimp in a Golden Saffron Sauce. To follow, there’s a Creamy Pumpkin Mousse then Spicy Mulled Wine and Festive S’mores stuffed with French Chocolate Bark round a burning brazier in the garden. It’s happy holidays Barefoot style!

ESSENCE OF EMERIL

HOLIDAYS, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 8AM

The holidays are here, celebrate with Emeril Lagasse. He’s got a feast perfect for any celebration this season.

NEW YEARS PARTY, Premieres: Saturday, December 22nd at 8AM

Emeril loves ringing in the New Year with a huge party for loved ones. He’ll prepare a menu that will have party-goers talking for years to come.

EVERYDAY ITALIAN: CHRISTMAS BRUNCH, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 12PM

Everyone likes to spend the first hours of Christmas morning at home with the family, but after the presents have been opened the rest of the holiday visitors arrive! Giada is throwing a white Christmas party and she’ll be preparing an amazing holiday brunch buffet to ring in the good cheer.

HEALTHY APPETITE with ELLIE KRIEGER: HOLIDAY HAPPY HOUR, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 1PM

Incredible food, super easy recipes and festive fun – that’s Ellie’s recipe for success when it comes to entertaining during the Holiday season. With luxurious Crab Salad served in Crisp Wonton Cups, bite-sized Devilish Eggs and Italian Sausage Skewers, tempting Red Pepper and Walnut Dip and sweet, crisp Apple and Cranberry Turnovers, all washed down with warm, spiced Mulled Cider.

NIGELLA’S CHRISTMAS KITCHEN

Nigella is back in her kitchen at a time when the nights are drawing in and most people are up for a bit of extended kitchen work. Christmas is after all the last bastion of traditional cooking; it’s a time when whole days are spent stirring, stuffing and marinating and the reward at the end is a legitimate excuse to have a glass of wine!

HOLIDAY ROAST, Premieres: Sunday, December 2nd at 10:30AM

Nigella’s mouth-watering, aromatic and juicy roast turkey is like no other, and surprisingly simple to make. Pair it with crispy roast potatoes and maple syrup parsnips, and all that’s left to round out the perfect Christmas dinner are her takes on some classic turkey fixings - cranberry sauce and gravy.

GINGER AND SPICE, Premieres: Sunday, December 9th at 10:30AM

At this time of the year, the heady aroma of spice and citrus fruit fills the house. Baking and mulling are at the heart of this episode featuring an aromatic spiced ham, gingerbread tree decorations, mulled cider, and a retro gravlax.

HOLIDAY PARTY, Premieres: Sunday, December 16th at 10:30AM

Entertaining during the run up to Christmas can range from coping with large groups of unannounced visitors to pre-planned dinner parties. No matter the size of the party, canapés are always a hit with the guests, and there are some simple guidelines to getting them right. Salty bundles of prosciutto, creamy goats’ cheese and figs are quick and simple to assemble, as are Nigella’s Sweet and Sticky Ribs and irresistible crab cakes.

QUICK FIX MEALS with ROBIN MILLER: THE GREAT GIFT, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 9:30AM

Family-favorite dishes help to celebrate the holidays and special occasions, but non-traditional dishes can be just as exciting and memorable. Packed with great taste, these new dishes are gifts the family will never forget.

SEMI-HOMEMADE with SANDRA LEE: MERRY CHRISTMAS MUNCHIES, Premieres: Saturday, December 1st at 11AM

Sandra is making Merry Munchies for the holidays. First, what’s more fun than building a snowman? Building one out of cake, frosting, and candy that you can eat! Next, she makes gingerbread cookies the Semi-Homemade way.

On Sun. morning, 12/9/07, 7-8am on Food Network, Barefoot Contessa presented a holiday dinner with raspberry cheesecake, rib roast, popovers and thumbprint cookies. Would like to obtain these recipes.
