Shopping with Chefs on Fine Living

Shopping with Chefs is a new show coming to Fine Living Network. “Hosts Jill Davie (winner of Hot Chefs South Beach) and David Myers (Iron Chef, 2007) offer their candid perspectives on it all- ingredients, cutlery, gadgets and more.”
Each episode takes you on a shopping trip with the chefs. I like the combination of food and tools in this show. For example, in the premiere episode which airs on Sunday, July 22 at 8pm EST, Jill presents various types of colanders available at just about any store. Who knew there were so many different types of colanders! I also learned that even though I spent $150 on my immersion blender, I didn’t get the best one - It only has about half of David’s suggestions for the perfect immersion blender.
My favorite part of the premiere episode is David’s tips on knives. I think I’ve finally learned that I only need one knife in the kitchen - a chef’s knife. So I found his tips on finding the perfect chef’s knife very interesting. Now I want to get a ceramic one and a santoku to add to my collection.
Shopping excursions are grouped together in logical sections. The “Catch of the Day” visits the fish market to discuss tips for purchasing salmon, then to the cooking supply store for tips on purchasing a grill pan and a fish turner. The segment on peppercorns and peppermills has me convinced to throw out all the ground pepper in my spice cabinet.
While watching the show I am tempted to go out and spend a bunch of money on new foodie gadgets. I’m a bit of a gadget addict. But I love that I get to learn so much about the tools that I have in my kitchen or ones that are on my list to buy. The hosts are alot of fun and watching the show is a bit like going on a shopping trip with some friends.
There are a few funny video clips available online demonstrating the hosts great chemistry. Watch a practical joke when the bill for supplies is much higher than expected or watch David debunking the garlic press. Both of these clips are just a snippet of what to expect from episodes of Shopping with Chefs.
Shopping with Chefs premieres on Sunday, July 22nd at 8pm ET with a sneak peak episode. You’ll be able to watch other fun episodes each weekend. Shopping with Chefs is scheduled to air on Fine Living at 1pm ET on both Saturday and Sunday beginning next weekend, July 28th.
