Last Call for Nominations

Today is the last day to get your nominations in for the 2006 Food Blog Awards.  They have been coming in fast and furious and you guys have sent up a lot of solid contenders.  I’ve discovered quite a few new food sites along the way myself, and it’s going to be tough going for the judges to narrow it down to the Top 5 for each category.

Nominations will close tonight at midnight EST and then the panel of five judges will convene to come up with their Top 5 in each category.  The Top 5 will be unveiled next Friday, December 23, at which point the voting will begin and last until December 31st.  The winners of the 2006 Food Blog Awards will be announced on January 1, 2007.

And speaking of judges, the below represent many different angles of the food and wine blogging world, and come together with their united passions.  Freelance writers, award-winning photographers and columnists, we have it covered.  You might know their work from their own individual sites, or through their activities in the food and wine blogging community.  They’re from as close as Connecticut and as far away as London.

- Alanna Kellogg is a second-generation author of Kitchen Parade (featuring “fresh seasonal recipes for everyday healthful eating and occasional indulgences”) and the Veggie Evangelist at A Veggie Venture.

- Sarah Caron is a magazine editor and freelance writer whose work has appeared nationally in print and online. A graduate of Barnard College, she has won several Excellence in Journalism awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.

- Andrew Barrow is Editor of Wine Sediments, runs Spittoon.biz and UKWinesOnline and is immersed in the online world of the wine blogger and wine trade. A freelance writer and member of the prestigious UK based Circle of Wine Writers, he is also a photographer and organiser of the ‘Does My Blog Look Good In This’ bloggers photography competition and joint organiser of Foodography, a flickr-based food photo challenge run through 2006.

- Nika Boyce, author of Nika’s Culinaria and contributing writer to The Spirit World, Kids Cuisine, and A Nice Cuppa (all blogs on the Well Fed Network), has been photographing the world around her since the early 1980s. While also a scientist, she is an artist with formal training in photography, fine arts, and architecture. Her most recent artistic focus has been food photography. Nika recently won a first place award on Food & Wine Magazine’s First Annual Food Photography Contest.

- And lastly me.  Besides my own site and Well Fed, my writing appears on Cooking Light magazine’s website and I am a contributing writer to several other food and non-food related publications.

Disclaimer: Judges will not be permitted to judge categories where their site has been nominated.
